Ready Steady Doc / Documentary Film Festival (Thu 16 - Thu 23 Feb)
The 30th edition of the modern Olympic Games is fast approaching, and we have just what you need to put you in the mood! Ready Steady Doc! brings together documentaries from all over Europe to make you see sport in a whole new light. An amazing line-up of sport celebrities will attend: the manager of the Spanish National Football Team Vicente del Bosque, French football star Vikash Dhorasoo, Hungarian three-time water-polo Olympic champion György Kárpáti, European Senior Champion pole-vaulter Herbert Sepp, 83-year-old Belgian Olympic athlete Yvonne Van Bets, and more!
The starting gun goes off on 16 February so ready... steady... doc!

European Literature Night / May 2012 Call for Participation
Supported by EUNIC London and the European Commission Representation in the UK and facilitated by the Czech Centre London, European Literature Night has presented some of the brightest literary talent from Europe to audiences and readers across the UK since its inaugural event at the British Library in 2009. Building on this success, in 2012, in addition to the British Library’s regular European Literature Night event in May, ELN is teaming up with Speaking Volumes Live Literature Productions. To make it the most memorable celebration so far, ELN would now like to invite you to recommend up to three writers to be considered by an eminent literary panel for inclusion in the 2012 ELN programme.
The next edition of the European Literature Night will take place at the British Library on 16th March 2012.

"Robotville" Would you play with a pet robot? Could a robot talk to you and share your feelings? Fancy meeting your robot self face to face?
1st to 4th of December 2011: RobotvilleEU @ Science Museum
The Robotville Festival will celebrate the most cutting-edge in European robot design and innovation. Visitors will be able to meet over 20 unique robots, many of which have just come out of European research labs and will be on show to the British public for the first time.
Roboticists, from the UK and Europe, will also be on hand to demonstrate their work and talk to visitors.
The festival was originally conceived by EUNIC London (European Union National Institutes for Culture), in partnership with the EU Cognitive Systems and Robotics Programme and the European Commission Representation in the UK.

"Active Witness" An exhibition of photography to celebrate the European Year of Volunteering @ Europe House (20 July - 9 September 2011).
This exhibition brings together 27 works by photographers representing 27 participating countries, whose work either engages directly with the voluntary sector, or with closely related social issues. Curated for EUNIC by Simon Baker (curator of photography and international art, TATE), and Ines de Bordas, with support from the ECR in the UK, cultural institutes and cultural attachés of the participating countries.

Cultural Diplomacy Seminar 2011 (30/06 and 01/07/2011) at Europe House, London.
EUNIC London is delighted to announce the second edition of the CD Seminar at Europe House, organised in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in the UK. This year the Cultural Diplomacy Seminar will introduce inspiring and creative initiatives and offer stimulating reflection on a series of challenging issues: culture and commerce, cultural leadership, culture and conflict resolution, the Eastern Partnership and artistic mobility.

Celluloid Curtain Film Festival in Riverside Studios (06-09 May 2011).
This exciting European Festival organized by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with Eunic London, will present 11 films, an exhibition, and a debate.
"When the film The Spy Who Came In from the Cold arrived in cinemas in 1965, the spy film was already one of the most popular genres in Europe. By then deep into the Cold War, the figure of the spy was a source of great fascination for people on both sides of the Iron Curtain."

European Literature Night III in British Library ( 6.30pm, 11 May 2011)
The annual European Literature Night is back for its third year, taking over 18 capital cities of Europe for a whole evening in a marathon celebration of the best of European literature. Six writers - both emerging and established literary figures from Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, Austria and Flanders – meet on stage to delight and stimulate with their readings and conversation.

Further to the success of its first edition, DancEUnion returns to Southbank Centre with three special mix bills.
